Fellow
Legionnaires,
This month is our Anniversary as an
Organization! The American Legion is 90 years
old this month and we're the largest veteran
organization in the United States! At our 10
March, 7 pm meeting, we’ll have a big meal
and a cake to celebrate. Please plan on being
there. As you know, I missed the last meeting
due to my father-in- law, Sam Pelstring's
death. Pop was a good friend, father and a
World War II veteran and we are very proud of
him. I want to thank you all for the words of
comfort, thoughts and prayers. Losing a loved
one is tragic, but as a Nation, these true
Heroes can’t be replaced and we will NOT forget
them. As Tom Brokaw so aptly refers to them,
they are the "Greatest Generation.” We have
over two hundred in our Post. When you see one,
tell them Thank You. Had it not been for them,
we very well could be speaking German or
Japanese today. On a less somber note, please
get the word out about our American Legion
Birthday and the Celebration on 10 March.
We have so much to be thankful for even in
this time of constraint. We still have several
veterans in the area that are hurting
financially and some have been assisted with the
Veterans Assistance Fund. If you feel inclined
to contribute to the Fund, see any of the
Executive Committee members and they can take
your donation. We’ll see that every penny is
used wisely for our Veterans. Lastly, let’s
remember that we are Brothers and Sisters who
have been places, seen
and done
things that the average American can’t even
dream of doing. We should be civil and
courteous towards one another, especially in the
Post home. Enough said on this subject. I’m
looking forward to seeing everyone at the
Birthday Party! The Post Executive Committee
will meet on 16 March,
5 pm.
Please call the Post for any change to the
meeting. All members are welcome. As always,
from the Post Executive Committee and I, thank
you again for your continued support.
"For God and Country," Ed
Kent
