Fellow
Legionnaires,
After the last two meetings, I'm wondering if
the membership has taken a vacation! In January,
we had a grand total of 29 members to vote for
our new Constitution and By-Laws. In March, we
put a meal on and 102 members showed up. Then,
the last meeting in April when we had a covered
dish, a grand total of 29 plus the Post Officers
attended. What's going on? Remember what we're
about? Being a member of the largest Veterans
Organization in the United States is a pretty
prestigious thing! Being there to help our
fellow Veterans, supporting their survivors and
children, supporting our youth, our schools and
our community involvement are all especially
important missions. I hope the Post Membership
will "fall in" and be accounted for at the next
meeting. During the May meeting, YOU'LL be
electing YOUR next year’s leadership. If you
don't care, stay home. If you do, we have a
place for you. I've asked Miss Betty and her
Kitchen Crew to fix a meal of Spaghetti and Meat
sauce with the trimmings. I wasn't going to have
a meal since we'll be voting, but, I was
persuaded to have one since we'll be having a
guest presentation. According to the Nominations
Committee, the following members are seeking
office for the year 2010 - 2011: Senior Vice
Commander Ernie Florig for Post Commander, I'll
be seeking office as Senior Vice Commander, RAP
Brown is seeking the Finance Officer position
again, Jimmy Land is seeking Junior Vice
Commander – Programs and Robert Carpenter is
seeking the new position, Junior Vice Commander
– Activities. Show your support and be there.
Memorial Day is 31 May at 1000 hours at Sunset
Hills Cemetery. Please make plans to be there.
We had about 200 to 250 last year. We’ll be
putting flags out on Sunday, May 30th at 0800.
We need the help, come on out. Lastly, our next
Post Executive Board will meet on 17 May at 1730
hours unless there’s a change. Please call the
Post for any change to the meeting. All members
are welcome. As always, from the Post Executive
Committee and I, thank you for your continued
support.

Kent
